(Part I: You)
You are a bird in the caretaker’s hand
- be gentle
You the clay in the potter’s land
- be gentle
The whiff of your destiny is drifting towards you
- to smell it, be gentle
The echoes in your heart are shaping the inner true
- to sense it, be gentle
At times, you are a petal
swaying in the twig
At times, a twig thrown
around by the gust
But at all times,
you are a life
rising from, and settling back
to the dust
- be gentle
(Part II: Here and Now)
The womb is always pregnant with a promise.
To witness it, be gentle
while the seed is just sprouting, be gentle
while the root is mixing with the deeper soil, be gentle
while the bud is opening, be gentle
while the flower is dancing, be gentle
while the fruitling is dangling, be gentle
while the fruit is ripening, be gentle
while the holding the ripeness in your hand, be gentle
while offering the fruit to a beloved, be gentle
(Part III: Relationship)
The wick of connection may be just being lit.
To let it flicker into life, be gentle
As your beloved struggles to bare her long held secrets
As she fishes for old words and new confidence, be gentle
even though you are too weary and tired to really really care
and brimming with burdens that you can’t afford to share
- be gentle
Aren’t we each Atlas that carry the weight of the world?
Aren’t we each a martyr waiting for that final sword?
We each seek that which is kind
-be gentle
We each seek that which is patient
- be gentle
